Legal Counsel (Vice President to Director Level)

Job Description:
Provide comprehensive legal, regulatory and transactional support to our international wealth management, asset management, insurance and trust businesses throughout the world
Provide legal support on international capital markets (ECM and DCM), cross-border mergers and acquisitions, general corporate transactional matters, data privacy and protection, and cybersecurity matters
Strong knowledge of and familiarity with US and Hong Kong SAR listing rules and regulations, including reporting obligations and share buybacks
Review, revise and advise on wealth management, asset management (including open-end and closed-end funds), trusts, insurance and related products and services documentation
Review and revise external counterparty agreements, including fund distribution agreements, brokerage agreements, referral agreements and technical services agreements
Manage external counsel, external legal spend and maintain relationships with various regulatory authorities throughout the world
Advise and assist on potential dispute resolution matters, including settlement of client complaints, negotiations with counterparties, and employment-related matters
Provide strategic legal and regulatory advice to senior management on creative and pragmatic solutions to evolving international business landscape and regulatory requirements
Based in Hong Kong SAR, some business travel may be required from time to time
Requirements:
At least 6-8 years PQE and above, strong preference for candidates from top-tier international law firms, who are HK, US, UK or Singapore-qualified
Sound knowledge of and prior experience in financial services industry, preferably international wealth management, asset management, funds or insurance industry
Strong business acumen, commercially sensible with excellent listening, communication and presentation skills
Team-player, resilient and willing to lead by example
Proficient in written and spoken English and Chinese, including Mandarin
